Run For Peace

March 20th, 2004

This was the first Run For Peace sponsored by Footprints For Peace. The Run was in solidarity with the International Peace Rally to protest the invasion of Iraq and to support the "Bring Them Home Now" movement for our troops.

The Run started at the International Peace Bell in Newport Kentucky. The Peace Bell has been both the starting and ending location for other actions such as the International Human Rights Day Walk And Prayer Vigil - Dec, 2003 and the Candlelight Vigil for Peace - Newport, Ky - 03/16/2003 .

The runners and walkers gathered at the Peace Bell with run walkers starting off about a half an hour before the runners. Their journey took them from the Peace Bell to the closest bridge across the Ohio River into Cincinnati, up to 5th street and west to Fountain Square where the main rally was to take place at noon.

Once again, Footprints For Peace where left upon the ground for others to follow in a continuing journey to obtain peace and justice for our world.
