WARNING NOTICE at MOD

Eskmeals: Guns are fired over the foreshore out to the Sea from the Land area shown on the byelaws. It is dangerous to touch or disturb any shell, bomb, missile or strange object found on the sands or beach. Please report its approximate position at the first opportunity to the Establishment.

We followed a winding path that past a low level waste repository from Sellafield, past Eskmeals and found ourselves walking over farm yards until we reached to our horror: “Bridge Closed”. The words of the workman saying “the road back around is 11 miles” and “I wouldn’t go in that water”, was not a good sign. After Dan tried to find an opening in the water, we decided that maybe we could build a bridge across the water. What turned out to be very hilarious sight with most of us ending up in the water, and covered in mud.

We left our plutonium footprints in the mud and were welcomed by the Ratty Arms at lunch time with complimentary soup and rolls.

Thank you Duncan and the owners who gave us a delightful lunch.
