Big Polluter, Big Payout

Navigation Bar Submit Feedback    Accoring to NRDC published in their Nature's Voice JAN/FEB 2008 issue after an 8 year battle they have reached a record breaking 4.6 billion settlement with American Electric Power over the companies coal-fired power plants. For more than two decades, the energy giant refused to install mandatory polution controls at upgraded plants in four states - and dumped vast quantities of illegal smog and soot pollution into the atmosphere as a result.

   The article continues on to say that American Electric Power will commit the most money ever by an energy company to new pollution controls, which will cut harmful emissions by 813,00 tons!
