Close the SOA - Peace Walk - Atlanta to Fort Benning - 2007

Jean Chapman gathers inspiration for the long walking days ahead at the beginning of the Close the SOA Pilgrimage to Fort Benning. We officially started the pilgrimage at the tombs of Martin Luther and Coretta King to honor their great example of non-violent activism and to infuse ourselves with energy for the eight days of walking 15 miles a day that it would take to get to the rally at the gates of Fort Benning. There is also a statue of Mahatma Ghandi at the grave site so we assured ourselves we were standing on the shoulders of giants to help us accomplish our mission - which we did!
