Operation Dire Distress - 03/15/2003 - Special Report

Operation Dire Distress was held in March (15-16) also in DC.

It was at this protest I first met the Japanese film crew in person. Haruo (the news producer) and I had corresponded over email several times prior to the protest. After returning home, Haruo and his crew spent 4 1/4 hours with me at my mom's home, on that Tuesday.

Haruo and I also exchanged numerous emails as he compiled the info in his story. The footage they shot in DC and our home, was condensed into a 6-7 minute segment that was shown on prime Japanese TV to 20 million viewers!

I was sent the tape that was well done, part in Japanese, part in English. The tape starts at the Vietnam wall memorial and includes brief footage of the Vietnam War before following the protests. Then it focuses in on me at home and includes several shots out of a photo book of memories my son put together and gave me Christmas 2000.
