Peacemakers On The Scene

Peacemakers On The Scene, War Protest
Buffalo New York
06/30/04

It didn't take Jeff long after returning to the States to get involved in peace actions. On Wednesday, June 30th he took part in a peace rally at the Connecticut Street Armory in Buffalo New York. The point of the rally was to protest the continuing occupation of Iraq and to forward the view that we should bring our troops home!

As you may know Jeff's son Jeremy is a medical helicopter pilot who has already served one tour in Iraq and is scheduled to return to Iraq later this year.

Jeff, a co-founder of Military Families Speak Out, states that "He doesn't want to go back, but there's not a lot of choice". "This is an unconstitutional and illegal war."

With the recent call-up of the Ready Reserves who have already been discharged from the service but who remain members of the Individual Ready Reserve Jeff states that "You figure you're all done when you're discharged, that you're safe and now your whole life is going to be turned around". He also believes that "it will cause other prospective Army recruits to think twice before enlisting".
