Peacemakers On The Scene

Peddling For Peace
Sustainable Agriculture
May, 2003

I was returning home from dropping off Brother NorthStar at the bus terminal and as I was driving down Kellogg Ave I passed a number of folks riding bicycles with some flags and such but it was a dark day and it was raining so I had a hard time reading anything.

As I approached a stop light I could see a few riders where waiting for the light and as I was stopping I rolled down the window and asked one of the what was up. He yelled something about riding to Yellow Springs for "sustainable agriculture" and the light changed and he was off before I could ask any other questions.

Well they were probably stretched out for a half a mile so I drove up in front of the farthurest ahead rider and got out of the car to find out what was going on and take some pictures. I wanted to get enough pictures so I let them all go by figuring I would get in front of them again or wait until they stopped. To make a long story short I lost them. But I came away with a beautiful feeling that these folks set out to spread a message in a peaceful non-violent way and they did it in a most wonderful manner. No oil, no gasoline, and no polution.

I tried to find out who they where but to no avail. Still I think they set an example for everyone to think about.
