Coober Pedy Coober Pedy is located some 260 or so km east of the nuclear test sites used by the British in the 50's. The contaminations from these tests had devastating affects on this community. Emu Junction also known as Emu Fields is located northwest of Coober Pedy and was the location of the first Atom Bomb test. Irati Wanti Media and Campaign Office is also located in Coober Pedy and is campaigning against the national nuclear waste dump proposed for their country.
