The Run For Freedom was first established in 1997. The main goal of the run was to bring the issue of political prisoners before public scrutinity. The Leonard Peltier case was the "Poster Child" of the run. Over the years the Run was asked to participate in other actions. The Leonard Peltier Defense Commitee, The Zapatista Coalition and the Hiroshima Flame Walk requested and received participation by the Run For Freedom. Hundreds of folks from all walks of life and many different cultures and countries have taken part in this annual event. 1998 - Thunder Bay, Canada 1999 - Lawerence Kansas 1999 - Philadelphia to Washington DC 2000 - Serpent Mound, Ohio 2001 - St. Petersburg Florida 2001 - Zapatista Coalition 2002 - Hiroshima Flame Walk 2002 - Tri State, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky 2002 - Lexington FMC to Manchester FCI 2003 - Levenworth Prison, Kansas 2004 - Serpent Mound, Ohio 6802 miles, hundreds of thousands of FootPrints For Peace!
