Nuclear Free Future Run - 2004
Runner Revelations
John Toren

It's not possible for me to adequately describe in words my feelings about this action. I do believe the goal to rid Mother Earth from nuclear devastation is of great importance to humanity but one can say this and the do nothing about it. I suppose that is the main reason that I love my "comrades by foot" so very, very much. Their willingness to just drop everything and set out on a journey for peace and justice; not just talking about it but DOING it! Yet just the word love seems like a very small adjective when it comes to my feelings about my running mates. It is truly one for all and all for one and I have no doubt that they love me as much as I love them!

At the end of our 350 trek by foot we join a group of folks making a 450 mile Peace Pilgrimage from Atlanta Georgia to the nuclear complex at Oak Ridge. These are old friends who have been walking for over 30 days. love is simply making my mind boil as we greet each other at the gates of Y12. And it just keeps growing as more and more like minded folks that I have been with in past years keep showing up to take part in the rally! Kindness, generosity, honesty, affection, respect, desires for peace and justice and great courage are common emotions and feelings. To say common dosen't near describe it. It seems surreal. I leave with a desire to continue this path I have been driven to with a stronger desire to keep on going.

With the strength, courage, love and determination of my beloved running mates, Jim(my son), Jon(DeCafe'), Larry, Terry, Mark, Jon(Cafinated) and all the others and with the Grace of my Creator, I WILL!
