Nuclear Free Future Run - 2004
Tribute
John Burkindine

One of the things that inspire me a whole lot its the loyalty and unselfishness of all the runners and walkers I have had the honor of being with during these actions.

One such person is Jon Burkindine. Since we have two Jons in our core group we refer to this Jon as "Cafinated" since he loves coffee. At least I think that why we call him cafinated. Anyhow, like most of us, Cafinated has the business of making a living as well as being involved in working with children and at times it is difficult for him to take the time off to make the entire event. But Jon seems to always show up and gives what he can without fail.

On this run Jon asked Jim what our hardest day was going to be and Jim told him that the first day was the longest. Jon didn't make it to Portsmouth in time for the opening ceremony but before we got the first mile in he showed up behind us and put in 10 miles which helped make the day a lot less painful for his fellow runners. Cafinated also volunteered to pick some of us up after the action by driving down to Lexington the next weekend and bring us home.

If everybody in this world gave what they could it would be a much better place to live in. Jon sets a shining example of giving what he can instead of just forgetting about it. Jon "Cafinated" Burkindine, we salute you!
