Run For Freedom - Philadelphia-DC

1999

At the request of the LPDC (Leonard Peltier Defense Commitee) the Run For Freedom started at the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Run was made to bring public awareness to the plight of Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu Jamal.

15 runners from MOVE covered the first 15 miles.

Two additional runners put in a few miles the first day. These were strangers that joined the Run while attending the opening ceremony at Liberty Bell Park in Phildelphia.

Four runners from the Run For Freedom Group in Cincinnati completed the 150 miles in two days and the Run ended in front of the White House in Washington D.C. The Run coincided with the Leonard Peltier Freedom Month organized by the LPDC.
