One of the things that people almost always ask is "why do you do this?" Well for this Run I thought I would ask the Runners I know who are going to participate and this is what they said:
Larry Crane:
"When the runners/walkers come together once again at Kickapoo to carry the message "All Life Is Sacred" we will be renewing an ancient tradition that transcends time, place, and culture. We sacrifice all to simply carry the message; we run and walk to keep alive the Spirit, Ceremony, and Prayer. It is an ideal convergence of Spirituality, Ceremony, support, activism, health, camping, and renewal of ancient traditions that unite us all. Mutual effort, sacrifice, and simple action for the common good, teaches us that we are all part of one human family. Plus for those of us that have traveled the road in this way, we have discovered that it simply makes us feel good."
Tyler Vega:
"I am going because it gave me goosebumps."
Jim Toren:
"I was priviliged in 1995 to participate in this run. It was the
second year of the run and during this experience I met Dewey and
Peggy(soon to be) Jessepe because they were married shortly after
the run. Dewey told me after the run that he really wanted to do
the run again. I told him "lets do it!" and although it has been
almost 10 years I never forgot how much it meant to Dewey and Peggy
as well as all the others who took part. So better late than never!"
Fran Hardaway:
I participate in these events because I'm spiritually energized being part of a group focusing on the belief that All Life is Sacred. Whether I run, walk, or support others who are running or walking, I become part of a positive energy force in the universe. I see new parts of the country at a pace that allows me to really see where I am instead of zooming past. I have the opportunity to develop new friendships and spend time with old friends. I've met warm, wonderful, interesting people from all over the world through these events. Finally, I participate because I've never had so much fun having bug bites, sunburn, tired muscles and wet clothing!
Jon Burkindine:
The run is about healing, healing the earth and healing
ourselves. The two
can not be separated. That is why I run...to heal.
Jon Blickenstaff:
I run to pray. I'm participating in this run because I support the efforts of all people to preserve their culture and way of life. I run to heal and renew the earth and myself. And I had to come on this run because I couldn't stand letting all my insane running friends have all the fun to themselves.
