Home Day Log Index |
Today was a day to hurry up and wait for the blockaders from yesterday to be released from jail so we can travel back to Glasgow. The wait allowed us time to get to know the Peace Camp and its inhabitants better. We also said goodbye to Mark who was heading back to Belfast. He had done a lot of organizing for our stay in Belfast, and his quiet leadership and boldness in our action Tuesday inspired us all. We’ll miss him. In our short visit to the Peace Camp we had gotten close to the people living there as well, with both groups admiring the work of each other. When we finally got word that our friends were being released we shared warm hugs, small gifts, and sad goodbyes all around, and headed off to pick up our friends. They had been held longer than the previous day, and they reported that because some of them were repeat offenders, the jailers had not been as friendly as the night before. They were even going to prosecute Jill, our only blockader from Scotland who did it both days. Her court date is July 6 and she’ll be in our thoughts and prayers for a good outcome.
On our way back to Glasgow we stopped at the apartment of Anna-Linna and Adam in Helensburg who work with Faslane 365 and who had done much legal support while we were in jail. They served us hot tea and snacks and we gave them each a gift in gratitude for their hard work. We then headed back to Landsdown Church in Glasgow with enough time left in the day to relax, fix another fine meal, and reflect on our amazing experience at Faslane. |
