Christie, a beautiful women from New York who has been walking with us for a week (and is Liana’s auntie), has to return to America today. We will miss her greatly, and as she said her goodbyes this morning she left us with her loving spirit & prayers:

Creator, God Good spirits of this land,
Thank you.

Thank you for this day and for bringing these friends here in safety.
Thank you for the opportunity to join them, and to walk and pray.

I pray for each person gathered here,
For all the people this walk has touched,
All whose stories are now intertwined, connected, changed.
I pray for all whose voices have been brought so far,
in love and fearlessness.
I pray that the people let this love and truth change them as it should.

Turn us from fear and violence
toward sanity, compassion, peace.
Have mercy on us, a broken people.

Let all these prayers and sweat and steps taken
be a force for peace in our own hearts and minds, and in the world

I believe in transformation.
I believe in the power of awareness
I believe another world is possible, is here.

In gratitude
Amen!

We had many many people walk today as we entered Milton Keynes and to the Nipponzan Myohoji Peace Pagoda. For many of us, we were really moved to be walking to the Pagoda and Temple as we have been greatly inspired by the monks and nuns of this Japanese order, who dedicate their lives to world peace and a nuclear free world.

With all the rain that fell yesterday, some of the roads and walkways have been flooded. The tow-path along the Grand Union Canal from Roade was knee deep in water, so we decided to take the main road into Milton Keynes.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes met us at the Council Offices in the afternoon. In kind words he spoke of the need for peace in the world, and to end the wars and thanked us for walking so far. After handing over the Mayors for Peace package, we headed off for the final last miles. Well the rain came down in buckets….absolutely soaked we were again.

As we came to the Peace Pagoda a beautiful rainbow over Willen Lake welcomed us all with spectacular color and joy.
