Peacemakers On The Scene

Bush Protest in Alcoa, Tn - 10/09/2002

 10/09/2002

Bush was in town to raise money and do some more war mongering. One of our Peacemakers was present, along with hundreds of other like minded Tennesseeans to deliver a message of "No War" to him. It was Libby Johnson.

I was able to interview Libby at her home in Tennessee about this event. She told me that when they arrived the police basically pushed the whole crowd of protesters behind a row of shrubs so that their presence could not be seen by Bush when he arrived.

Libby and two of her friend felt that this was wrong. She told me that "I didn't think iy was right that I would have to pay $1,000 to be able to let President Bush know what my opinion was, after all, he is my President too!.

Not to be denied, she and her friends, went out into the street with their signs and were promptly arrested!
