Shepard Lane Peace Garden

Navigation Bar Submit Feedback    The Medicine Wheel takes shape in the peace garden at Peace Hostel Lexington courtesy of Fran Hardaway, Dale Van Fleet, & Larry Crane. We call the business "Shephard Lane Gardens".and hope to eventually acquire "Organic" status in the future.

I'm the "mad cow" and I thought I would add a little to Larry's story. I know the work that these folks have put into this garden. It's not just a garden either. They are trying to create a sacred site to raise all kinds of food for several reasons.

One is to have healthy food to eat. By raising their own food they reduce the amount of fossil fuel that is burned in bring this class of food from places like California, the country's largest producer of produce.

Of course if they help Mother Earth by doing this for themselves they also save the same resources by providing it to others in a farmer's market close to when the peace garden is located.

Think about doing something like this for yourself!

Feel free to come and do prayer ceremony here any time you like! Perhaps the Peace garden is a concept we could promote and spread? It certainly causes a stronger connection with Mother Earth and could be used to change peoples hearts, since it calls for a lot of sweat sacrifice to create.
