Memories Home Day Log Index |
Today we are starting pretty early because it’s a school day and we have to get out of the building because the kids will be using it soon. Today is also a little different because we have a group that wants to feed us Breakfast. So we will walk 3 miles and stop for breakfast at another friends meeting house Allen is joining us today for the whole walk.
Then around 10:30 am we headed off to our next stop, which was, the Peace House (Fredheim) were we were greeted by Kevin and Mairéad Corrigan-Maguire a 1977 Nobel Peace Prize Winner. Believe it or not we are stopping here for lunch. During lunch we had a nice visit with everyone at the peace house the house was donated by a group from Norway and the Name Fredheim means Peace. Also during our meeting Mairéad presented KA with a silver Peace Crane that the Mayor of Hiroshima gave her a few years ago. After a few hours it was off for the city hall and a meeting with the Mayor of Belfast.. After clearing up a mis-understanding with security we were welcomed by the Mayor. We went inside and had tea while we listened to what the mayor had to say. The feeling is a little different here it always is when you go from small towns to large cities. The Mayor presented us with the seal of the city. We took the bus back to our overnight were Allen had arranged for local musicians to come out and play for us tonight. The night started with a group of school kids and wow what a good show. It turns out that they play all over the world last year their big trip was to Africa. They were just fantastic. After them there were more singers of all types of music it was a great night. And Marcus and a local drummer did a set together. It was a fantastic day and night tomorrow we have a rest. |
