After we couldn’t find a place to stay in Uplawmoor as this is a very wee (small) town (even Scottish people would say “where?”) we decided to reroute and have a short walk to Barrhead.

With nine of us walking – including the “American Gandhi” (Bernie Meyers) we walked out of Glasgow early morning on Saturday. Again we are continuing to have many people respond along the way by tooting and waving. We walked through some pretty poor areas of Glasgow on our way south to Barrhead.

Walking through these poorer areas always reminds me of how much the Governments’ are willing to spend on the military, arms and nuclear weapons rather than putting money into social, cultural and housing issues. Some of the towns are dirty, treeless and seemingly lifeless without basic yet important community resources.

We had a restful stay at the Reformed Methodist Church in Barrhead , without much fuss.
