Our numbers are continuing to grow and overnight we were joined by a local person Duncan from Cumbria, Hattie Nestel from the USA, and Sid who we met up at Faslane Peace Camp.

It’s really great that they have all come to walk with us into Sellafield, a place that is the beast that has caused and still causes a lot of suffering to people and land all over the world.

We are really pleased that Duncan has joined the walk as he worked at Sellafield for 15years from the 1970’s employed by B.N.F.L. His strength in walking out of Sellafield is massive and gives us hope that we would like more employers to do. He brings to the walk a different perspective on the operations of B.N.F.L and stories I believe that should be shared with everyone. He confirms our beliefs at B.N.F.L’s “gradual degeneration of effective and safe operations of many of the ‘older’ plants’, putting workers at incredible high risks to exposure to radiation through accidents”.

As I walked into Sellafield, I remembered the stories from the people of Ireland about the cancer & down syndrome clusters they are suffering from along the east coast due to Sellafield. For more information about Sellafield see: www.core.org or www.shutsellafield.org

It was amazing that all through the day to Sellafield the rain fell, and as soon as we got to the gates that the rain stopped, the weather cleared and the sun came out.

Many local people, including some young children joined us as the Main Gate and we held a beautiful ceremony with each person sharing a message, song or story about the connection this facility has with the global world.
