Home Day Log Index |
We broke into a sweat pretty early this morning as Helen knew a short cut route that took us steeply through the bog up and over a mountain. Amongst the beauty and peace the roar of a tornado passed closely over head cracking the silence sending a chilling signal of what a war zone must be like. Unnecessary training of these tornadoes is constant in this area, leaving us with a feeling of such waste of money & resources. As we walked up the mountain Helen mentioned that she had been sick for a long time and now ‘life has just began’ for her. I thought she was a great inspiration and gave thanks that we had connected. Its people like Helen that always give me great hope and a reminder to me that we are walking for so many people who can’t be with us. Just after lunch we were met by an enthusiastic group of people from Kendall Quakers who walked with us into Levens. As we couldn’t find a stay place in Levens we had organized for the walkers to be transported back to Kendall for the evening. We all got completely soaked as we walked the last few miles but still this did not dampen our spirits as we jumped into waiting cars to be taken to warm houses and showers in Kendal. |
