Today rained and rained. Barbara from Kendall had joined us to walk the whole day.

We walked into a well anticipated Allison who had the door wide open to hang out our wet clothes and dry off.

The Settle Friends has great space for groups, with a great kitchen and shower facilities for us to enjoy hot showers and cuppa’s - the small pleasures after walking in the rain all day. With such delight we quickly had made this Friends Meeting House our home for three nights.

There is something cleansing and rejuvenating to the human spirit about walking in the rain all day. After we are all dry and sitting around with hot mugs of tea there is a feeling of satisfaction and happiness in the air. A kind of calmness creeps into our group having been out amongst the extreme elements of torrential rain all day. Tis a beautiful feeling, something that I feel our society is losing – the real feel of nature is being out in it. So many people are indoors with “perfect” room temperatures, not wanting to get wet, not wanting to feel the sun.
