Just want to say that you all are in my thoughts. I am a good friend and canoeing partner of Jon Blickenstaff. We have canoed often in Northern Michigan on Veterans day weekend. Give him my warm regards, and you folks keep making peace. Much love and warmth to you.

Dear Jon Blick and friends in peace, You are completing the journey today. In the infamous words of that pop icon Homer Simpson, "Woo Hoo!" Let Jon know and I want each of you to know that I am with you in spirit. The love and warmth you bring into the world through this effort means much in light of where you are and your destination. I appreciate your effort. Keep making peace!

You all will never know what a God send you all were for me at the SOA rally this weekend. I am a spiritual novice when it comes to understanding the balance of the necessary acts of non-violent direct action and knowing when to take a step back. Sunday's funeral procession grabbed me in the gut and heart. It was difficult not to just climb the fence and ease the gripping effects on heart and gut. I wanted to send a quote I came across from Daniel Berrigan last year when I was discerning the heartfelt call I experienced which lead to my crossing...
"We have assumed the name of peacemakers, but we have been, by and large, unwilling to pay any significant price. And because we want the peace with half a heart and half a life and will, the war, of course continues, because the waging of war, by its very nature, it total – but the waging of peace, by our own cowardice, is partial. So a whole will and a whole heart and a whole national life bent toward war prevail over the velleities of peace… “Of course, let us have the peace,” we cry, “but at the same time let us have normalcy, let us lose nothing, let our lives stay intact, let us know neither prison not ill repute nor disruption of ties…” There is no peace because there are no peacemakers. There are no makers of peace because the making of peace is at least as costly as the making of war – at least as exigent, as least as disruptive, at least as liable to bring disgrace and prison and death in its wake.”
I can quote these words to you all because each of you offer that "whole hearted waging of peace". In AA they say, "half measures avail us nothing..." I read the entire account of the journey. This walk is not a challenge for the "need a regular shower and blister free feet." Nope! You all know the cost of peace and give it you first priority. I am honored to get to know you.

Great website and report on the walk. It was fun to walk a few steps with you all, and to get a sense of it all by reading the blog. Good work Mary Beth on word-crafting and Bob and others for great photos.
