One evening not very long ago my fellow steward, Larry Crane, and I, John Toren, were having some reflections about past actions that we had taken part in. One of the things that always bugged me was the negativity that so many people expressed in circle and during the chatting sessions that always took place at end of day. Larry agreed with me but at the same time pointed out that amongst our peers it seemed that I was always positive and pointed out victories that had been achieved.
For example most of the folks that we take action with are anti-nuclear and while most complain about the nuclear industry I am quick to point out that back in the seventies and eighties we stood in front of the gates of places like Zimmer in Ohio as well as others and for sure our presence made a difference! Not only was Zimmer not built as a nuclear power plant but also no new nuclear power plants have been built in this country in the last 20 years! This was a victory for all of us who stood the watch and we shouldn't forget it! Larry made the suggestion that we start a section on this web site called Victories and begin illustrating our successes. We all agreed so check it out and send us your victories!
