My congratulations to all the people who participate in this event. I have done peace walks in the US and believe they are effective as an awareness tool, probably more so in Europe and other countries than in the United States, where ¨peace¨is just another dirty word. (to the majority of US citizens) One of your most intrepid teams are friends of mine, Jeff Mc Kenzie and his wife, Gertie _ they represent the shining examples of putting aside their normal routines to walk for peace. I now live in South America, and have seen the damage being done to leftist governments by funding opposing factions - which is being done by the US and other countries. Also the foreign NGO´s which are literally raping the Andean countries of their natural resources,(including uranium) treating the miners like änimals, and destroying the environment. Fortunately these countries are working in concert to remedy these practices, in Ecuador the government has closed all mining opreations for 6 months forcing the companies to address these issues. I know you focus is on ending nuclear proliferation, most of these people have no idea about these concepts - life gets basic when your kid develops cancer or your husband dies due to poor ventilation underground. So maybe some of your focus in the future could center on these issues, I have more information should anyone want it. Good luck on your walk, thank you for doing this for the rest of us!
